Nippon Tect Systems is developing a diagnostic support system for dementia using AI. Currently, doctor’s dementia examination is performed using quantitative data such as neuropsychological examination and image analysis (MRI), and qualitative indicators such as facial expression and voice (videophone). In the system to be developed, the doctors will be supported by AI in order to judge whether a patient’s quantitative and qualitative data point to dementia. The Japanese Initiative for Diagnosis and Treatment Evaluation Research in Telepsychiatry (J-INTEREST) is supported by AMED and aims for practical application in 2019.
