NEDO consortium develops Cu-based zeolite for NOx purification from car exhausts

A NEDO consortium around Mitsubishi Chemical Co. and others has synthesized a zeolite catalyst for NOx purification in automobiles showing high durability and activity over a wide temperature zone. By combining an ultra-high speed synthesis method and formation of fine particles, a copper-zeolite was obtained which contains many active sites and extremely few defects. The catalyst hardly deteriorates even at high temperature and maintains high activity, so it can be used in a temperature zone which could not be used up to now and makes it possible to select driving conditions with good fuel economy.
