Naked mole rats, which exhibit anti-aging and cancer resistance features, selected as novel test animals in Kumamoto

The mole rat, native to East Africa, lacks pain sensitivity in its skin, and has very low metabolic and respiratory rates. The mole rat is also remarkable for its longevity and its resistance to cancer and oxygen deprivation. RIKEN’s Shoubou (iris) system B is number 1 energy-saver among world’s top 500 supercomputers

In cooperation with ExaScaler Co. and PEZY Computing Co., an entirely new immersion cooling system was established at RIKEN which lowered the energy requirements of the computer (2 petaflop class) to 17.009 gigaflops/W.
