The consortium, made up fom AIST, Toray, Teijin, Toho Tenax and Mitsubishi Rayon, has jointly developed an improved process which is based on novel precursor compounds that do not require a stabilization, an efficient carbonization technique using microwaves and a surface treatment using a plasma.
