The project entrusted to the International Telecommunications Research Institute will attempt to use cerebral blood flow data, measured by a near infra-red system, in a test person as an indicator to optimize man-machine conversation. Increased cerebral blood flow rate indicates that a person has difficulties in understanding a robot’s speech, permitting the robot to change ist speech. Elderely people in Japan prefer conversion with humanoid dialogue robots, as an opportunity to stimulate intellectual activity.
