A three-generation cohort for the Tohoku Medical Megabank Program has been successfully established

The world’s first three-generation birth cohort survey with pedigree infomation carried out at the Tohoku Medical and Mega Bank program has resulted in the registration of over 73,000 people. Pregnant women occupy a large proportion among all pregnant women in Miyagi prefecture. Moreover, the number of trios (three children and parents) was > 10,000, forming cohorts that are advantageous for elucidating familial factors leading to diseases and couple them to genetics through genome-based cohort studies.
