NEDO-supported group develops blue-laser 3D printer for pure copper

In the NEDO project, Osaka University’s group of Professor Masahiro Tsukamoto, collaborating with Shimadzu Co., Nichia Corporation and Muratani Machinery Works has developed a blue-laser 3D printer that can print layers of pure copper by a laminating high-quality blue semiconductor laser. This technology will be applied to process parts for aerospace, space and electric car industries. Laminating materials such as pure copper is difficult to achieve with 3D printers using conventional near-infrared lasers.
