NEDO initiates hydrogen-based „power-to-gas“ projects

In order to maximize utilization of renewable energy-derived electric power, the project will develop a cooperative control system for hydrogen production from water electrolysis, storage batteries and hydrogen co-fired engines. Fluctuations in business that sells hydrogen will be mitigated and followed by full-fledged demonstration tests including equipment introduction, technology development, and validation. Demonstration of this concept is planned at Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture. NEDO will conduct empirical research until 2020 and aim to realize CO2-free hydrogen supply after 2040, expanding the introduction of renewable energy.
