Fujifilm obtains broad patent protection in Japan to produce iPS cells from peripheral blood

The original patent submission was filed by US Cellular Dynamics International (CDI), now a subsidiary of Fujifilm, and claims the production of induced pluripotent stem cells from a small amount of peripheral blood using an episomal vector. The claims overlap to some extent with claims of CiRA, Kyoto University.
