Team at University of Tsukuba recovers gold and palladium from metal waste liquids

The group of Tomohiko KUWAHARA, using red algae Galdieria sulfuraria living in hot acidic springs, succeeded to recover gold and palladium in concentrations as low as 0.5 ppm from metal waste. After selective adsorption, the metal ions could be completely eluted.
