NEDO signs MOU with Speyer on “smart community” program to reduce energy cost

Speyer is looking to optimize costs originating from a grid where subsidized solar power is overprized. A NEDO consortium made up from NEDO and NTT DoCoMo, NTT Facilities, Hitachi Chemical Co and Hitachi Information & Communication Engineering has developed a home energy management system (HEMS) with a focus on heat pumps which now will be tailored to include input from solar energy in order to optimize energy cost. The project which is supported from Stadtwerke Speer and Speyer City is thought to benefit both sides in developing renewable energy further.
