Ministry of Education reprimands Hayashibara Co. and University of Tokyo for mishaps involving genetically modified organisms

In the case of Hayashibara, a waste liquid containing recombinant Baculovirus was not properly inactivated. In the case of the University of Tokyo, an Erlenmeyer flask containing a culture medium with a recombinant microorganism fell from a carriage, and the culture medium leaked on a road. The ministry confirmed that strict attention is given to compliance with existing rules.
