RIKEN QBiC develops method to display transparent organs or laboratory animals at 1 cell resolution

The group around Hiroki UEDA found that the use of amino alcohols elutes blood heme in whole organisms promoting tissue bleaching. This allowed for the development of a whole organism imaging method showing systemic and organ systems at one cell resolution. By establishing a method to capture the whole organ or body as a three-dimensional image, the procedure can be applied to 3D pathology analysis and anatomy.
