RIKEN CSRS and the University of the Ryukyus announce new metabolic pathway for cellulose in termites

By tracking metabolites using labeled precursors and NMR facilities, the group around Jun KIKUCHI at RIKEN’s Environmental Resources Research Institute has analyzed the metabolic pathway of cellulose used by the intestinal microorganisms of termites.
