Toyota Research Institute announces castor-oil based bioplastic of extreme hardness

The sandwich-type product („bioalloy“) is derived from PA11 (polymerized 11-amino undecanoate) prepared from castor oil in sandwich with polypropylene. The impact strength of the material exceeds PLA about 13fold. It is designed for bumper modules, cases and helmets, smartphones etc.
