Gunma University group develops improved protein-binding aptamer design using capillary electrophoresis

Based on the SELEX method but using capillary electrophoresis to isolate highly binding protein aptamer complexes, a team around Associate Professor Masayasu KUWA at Gunma University succeeded to isolate an aptamer strongly binding to thrombin, acting as a thrombin repressor. The procedure is claimed to enable the rapid development of RNA-based drugs.
