Interdisciplinary team succeeds to control leg movement without assistance of spinal cord, directed towards patients with spinal cord injury

A group around Yukio NISHIMURA from the National Institute for Physiological Sciences, Okazaki, succeeded to install a computer-based artificial neural connection (ANC) tot he lumbar locomotor center, controlling walking, which bypasses the spinal cord. The system was successfully tested with human volunteers.
