The battery, developed at Tohoku University’s AIMR institute, has 6 times the capacity of a standard lithium ion battery (2000 mAh per unit weight of the electrode ) and can be repeatedly used for over 100 times, enhancing the driving range of electric vehicles to 500 km or more. Key to the development is a nanoporous graphene and Ruthenium-based catalyst.
