The Kobe Eye Center consists of an ophthalmologic hospital and laboratory, a cell culture processing facility (CPC), and a floor conducting low vision care (rehabilitation for visually handicapped persons). A RIKEN-operated laboratory and CPC will be on the 5th and 6th floor of the center which is located in Kobe Medical Industry City” on Kobe Port Island and adjacent to RIKEN’s Center for Developmental Biology (CDB). Construction cost for the 2000 m2 seven floor facility was about 4 billion yen.”
