As part of the NEDO-funded “Demonstration Project for Integrated Production and Supply Chain Construction of Domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from Pulp”, Sanyu Plant Services Co., Ltd. and Biomaterial in Tokyo Co., Ltd., have demonstrated a supply chain for SAF, from procuring pulp from domestic raw materials to producing SAF via bioethanol and supplying it to airports. They obtained a certificate from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The group certification includes the prefecture’s sawmill, which is the raw material supplier of pulp. The project is proceeding with the construction of a demonstration plant that will produce SAF from pulp via bioethanol, and preparations are being made to obtain this certification for this plant as well.
