A flight using domestically produced SAF made from inedible plant seeds collected in Okinawa Prefecture will be operated on a route within Okinawa Prefecture (JTA565 / Naha to Miyakojima) on March 25th.

The SAF is made from inedible plant seeds (Calicoa japonica and Pongamia) collected in Okinawa Prefecture as part of the fuel. J-Oil Mills developed an oil extraction and refining process and Taiyo Oil, an oil refiner, mixes the neat SAF produced with conventional jet fuel at its Okinawa facility and supply SAF to aircraft. Taiyo Oil’s Okinawa facility plans to further expand SAF production and supply.
