Japan’s government will spend 10% more on R&D in FY2025

The government approved the 2025 R&D budget proposal at a cabinet meeting on December 27, 2024. The government’s overall science and technology promotion budget will increased by 12.9 billion yen from the previous fiscal year to 1.4221 trillion yen.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology establishes a new program in supplementary budget to support university hospitals and other institutions to accelerate medical research.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries launches three new research projects, including the development of new varieties.

The Ministry of the Environment launches a new project to support hydrogen production using renewable energy.
