Seven Japanese companies have initiated an “Intestinal Design Co-Creation Project” with a focus on short-chain fatty acids. Short-chain fatty acids are a general term for metabolic substances produced by intestinal bacteria when they break down dietary fibers and oligosaccharides, and mainly include acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid.

Participants are Metagen, Ezaki Glico, Calbee, Daicel, Teijin, Hokuto, and Morishita Jintan.
