Organ Technologies raises 590 million Yen from ITOCHU and Mitsui Co. for R&D on regenerative medicine

Organ Technologies, a spin-out of RIKEN, has received 3d party investment in the framework of open innovation. Organ Technologies is aiming to regenerate hair follicles from mesenchymal stem cells and explores tooth germ and stem cells to regenerate periodontal tissue from iPS cells. In addition, the company has developed a human skin model for research that can be used by cosmetic companies and pharmaceutical companies. The Advanced Skin” consists of a total of six layers, four layers of epidermal tissue including horny and epithelial basal cells, and two layers of dermal tissue with cell densities that mimic the actual dermis.”
