NEDO consortium develops high-efficiency aquifer thermal storage system at reduced cost

NEDO and Nippon Groundwater Development Co. have developed the first high-efficiency aquifer thermal storage system in Japan that stores cold energy and thermal energy in an underground aquifer and can effectively utilize it for cooling and heating . As a result of introducing this system into the air conditioning of an office building in Yamagata prefecture and conducting demonstration experiments, they achieved 23% reduction in initial installation cost and 31% reduction in operation cost for 1 year compared with conventional systems.
