NEDO team succeeds in autonomous remote monitoring by drones

NEDO, KDDI, Teradrone and SECOM, utilizing a 4 G LTE standard, conducted security experiments on multiple autonomously flying drones in Kanagawa Prefecture and succeeded in remote patrol security. By remote monitoring of camera images installed in the drones from the operation control room, it was possible to identify suspicious individuals. It was also possible to install a speaker, LED light, infrared cameras, alerting attention to suspicious individuals or discovering suspicious fires at night. The technology will support stringent security measures at large-scale sports events and international conferences. By using smart drones” which allow for long-distance autonomous out-of-sight flights by connection to the 4 G LTE network and local security cameras, it is possible to survey remote places day and night.”
