Team at Nagoya University develops portable sensor for detection of airborne bacteria

The sensor, developed by Yoshinobu BABA and colleagues, is based on the measurement of ionic microcurrents where noise from other environmental particles is suppresed by a circuit bridge in a simple, lightweight electromagnetic shield. Accuracy of size detection of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) was equivalent to that obtained by SEM imaging.
