AMED’s Medical Big Data Research Center is based on an earlier cooperation of the National Institute of Informatics (NII) with the Universities of Tokyo, Kyushu University, and Nagoya University. Proposals submitted to the Japanese Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Japan Pathology Association, and Japan Medical Radiology Association, respectively, were adopted as research themes in FY 2016, and a proposal with the Japanese Ophthalmological Society in FY 2017. In the new center, a high-performance cloud infrastructure for analyzing medical images by big data will be developed, and the analysis of medical images by AI using this cloud infrastructure will be verified.
