Konica Minolta enters ultrasound diagnostic market, acquires Japan business from Siemens Healthcare

Following a general trend of Japanese camera makers to enter the medical field, in view of shrinking business due to mobile phone camera competition, Konica Minolta Japan has acquired the Japanese business of transvaginal ultrasound imaging diagnostic equipment from Siemens Healthcare, and will enter the ultrasound imaging diagnostic market in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. In March 2017, Konica Minolta acquired Panasonic Medical Solutions, which stores and manages image data such as CT and MRI. In May 2017, it acquired Ambry Genetics, a specialist in exome diagnostics. In September 2017, Invicro Inc. was purchased, which provides image analysis technology for drug discovery.
