The Keio University spin-off has prepared a stable and homogeneous mesenchymal stem cell line ASCL (Adipose-derived Mesenchymal Stem/stromal Cell Line) which can be cryopreserved and differentiated into platelets within about 2 weeks, using a transcription factor NF-E2. Using this technology, one package of adult blood ready for transfusion might be produced from 0.5 g of fat tissue. As a first step, the preparation will be tested for wound healing.
