Mazda opens algae energy research laboratory at Hiroshima University

The 2 years program is under the heading of “next generation vehicle technology” and involves Profs. Atsushi SAKAMOTO of Hiroshima University Professor Hiroyuki OTA of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The algae investigated are Nanochloropsis, and the genome editing technologies available at Hiroshima University will be used in this project to achieve high oil contents.
