Hamamatsu University scientist explores suicide gene therapy using Muse cells

Professor Hiroki NANBA of Hamamatsu Medical University explores the use of Muse cells (multi-lineage differentiating stress enduring cell) as a carrier for suicide genes that migrate into glioma (brain) tumor cells. The strategy is based on administration of ganciclovir with recombinant Muse cells transfected with HSV-TK gene with lentiviral vector. The Muse cells are previously isolated from patients with glioma.
