The group of Morinobu ENDO has developed a procedure based on low-cost sulfate-treated graphite which allows to reduce an oil content of 100 ppm in primary water to 0.1 ppm. This is an order of magnitude lower than other methods such as nanofiltration, reverse osmosis can reach.
