Tohoku University announces continuation of whole-genome human sequencing program using Toshiba’s Japonica array

The program is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science under the Center of Innovation (COI) program and shared between Tohoku University and Iwate University under the Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabanks Mechanism (ToMMo), following the Great Eastern Earthquake in 2011. The array allows for the fast reading of a whole genome sequence and has already been tested with 1000 Japanese individuals, leading to quick information about SNPs and disease risks.
