J-TEC submits trial notification on autologous culture of corneal epithelium

In a multi-center trial, 1-mm2 sample of the patient’s own limbal tissue will be taken, and cultured by the same method used to produce cultured epidermis. Cells are enzymatically isolated from limbal tissue, and in the final stage, corneal epithelial cells are cultured in temperature-responsive culture dishes on a gel from which the finished cultured corneal epithelium (EYE-01M) is obtained by temperature shift (joint development with CellSeed Inc.) and transferred to patients with corneal epithelial stem exhaustion disease, leding to eye pain, lacrimation etc.
