NAIST team develops LED-based miniature fluorescence detector for point-of-care applications

At NAIST Research Center for Microsystem Integration (team leader: Toshihiro Kamei), the 4 x 2 x 2 cm device was developed using semiconductor microfabrication technology, integrating an inexpensive surface-emitting micro-LED and combining with PCR thereby realizing detection limits that can detect a single molecule of DNA.
