The Imperial Memorial Award of Japan, established in 1926 and presented by the Emperor through the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation, has been donated to Otsuka Pharmaceuticals for the original development of aripiprazol, an agonist for dopamine D2 receptor and a unique treatment for schizophrenia, now used in over 70 countries. The prize is at 2 million Yen.
