Kobe University Hospital starts clinical trials with autologous cartilage cells, 10 cases

After a joint venture with British Arthro Kinetics failed in 2010, technology is now supplied by Polaris Rx Co which is financially supported by the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation, an organization under the MHW. This is the 4th example of clinical tests with autologous tissues in Japan, following autologous epidermis and cartilage cultures of J-Tec and autologous skeletal myoblast sheet s of TERUMO which all are in clinical trial.
It is the first time in Japan that a clinical trial is started after strategy consultation with the Drug Regulatory Affairs Office.
