Tokyo team develops „nanomachine“ which permits 100fold increased passage through the blood-brain-barrier (BBB)

The concept jointly developed by researchers at the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Medical and Dental University and others is based on physiologically safe nanoparticles of 30 nm diameter (a PEG-poly(α,β-aspartic acid) block copolymer with conjugated glucose) which are loaded with glucose) recognized by the GLUT1 transporter localized in cerebrovascular endothelial cells. The uptake by this […]

Takeda transforms Shonan Research Institute into „Shonan Health Innovation Park“

Takeda Pharmaceutical Industries will build a Shonan Health Innovation Park” inviting external venture companies and academia researchers into its Shonan Research Laboratory. The model is Boston’s BioCluster where researchers interact with each other at cafes and where collaborative research is started and research ideas are born. In order to achieve such an environment, it is […]

Japanisches Konsortium stellt erstmals serienmäßig Fahrgestelle aus Carbonfasern her

NEDO news release, October 16, 2017

NEDO-supported consortium reports successful manufacture of weldable automobile chassis in 1 minute using thermoplastic carbon-fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP)

The Nagoya-based team used the LFT-D method, a method for manufacturing fiber-reinforced plastics conceived in the Fraunhofer Institute of Chemical Technology ICT in Pfinztal. By this method, carbon fibers are continuously fed and kneaded with thermoplastic resin pellets. If heating and pressure molding of composite parts are carried out in an autoclave, intermediate steps become […]

Nano-Innovation Laboratories NIL Corp. develop “super nanoparticle” manufacturing technology for functional ingredients in cosmetics

Within a NEDO-supported project, NIL Corporation developed an innovative super nanoparticle (SNP) manufacturing technology that maximizes the effectiveness of functional ingredients. SNP particle size is extremely small, surface area is large, particle size distribution is narrow, dispersion stability is good and highly concentrated dispersions can be prepared. In addition, the surface of the SNPs can […]

RIKEN team elucidates genome mutations in iPS cells

In a collaborative program with several university groups, Yoshihiro YOSHIHARA of RIKEN’s Life Science Center for Functional Genomics has elucidated the hot spots of genome mutations in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells). The distribution pattern showed point mutation of low density in the regulatory regions coding for promoters and enhancers. Many other genomic mutations […]

Astellas Pharma, Daiichi Sankyo and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma to re-evaluate compound libraries through universities and ventures

In the joint program “JOINUS”, the 3 companies will commission work to universities and ventures to reevaluate compound libraries that have already shown pharmacological activity and basic safety in non-clinical studies. More than 50 kinds of mechanisms of action are targeted, and the number of concrete compounds is not disclosed. Astellas news release, October 11, […]
